Free Seedling Giveaways Coming To Morristown For Arbor Day
The state's annual campaign sets to help New Jersey's tree line recover after significant losses from Superstorm Sandy.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — Want to plant a tree in Morristown? Free seedlings will soon become available in the area.
Every year, the state makes free seedlings available throughout New Jersey in its effort to help the Garden State's tree line recover after significant losses from Superstorm Sandy. The seedling giveaways typically occur around Arbor Day, which is April 29 this year.
The Morristown area will have the following seedling giveaways in the coming weeks:

- April 22: Scherer Pavilion at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum (353 East Hanover Ave.), 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- April 24: Frelinghuysen Middle School, front entrance arcade (10 Jane Way), 9 a.m. to noon
- April 30: Town Hall parking lot on Franklin Street (2-4 p.m.)
The Arbor Day Foundation has worked to bring back New Jersey's tree line since the 2012 superstorm. The New Jersey Tree Recovery campaign partners the foundation with the New Jersey Forest Service. The partnership has distributed more than 300,000 trees, but many more are still needed, according to the Arbor Day Foundation.
