Jets Coach, Accused of Slapping Woman, Won't Pursue Charges
Dennis Thurman's attorney said the defensive coordinator and Morristown resident won't seek civil or criminal action against woman he allegedly slapped at bar.
Despite being accused of slapping a woman at a bar in Morristown, New York Jets defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman won’t be seeking civil or criminal action against the female.
According to espn.com, Thurman, through an attorney, said he won’t pursue any action against Jessie Steinberg, the 28-year-old woman who said the coach first made sexual advances toward her and ultimately slapped her.
Formal charges were never filed by Steinberg after the mid-May incident at Pazzo Pazzo in Morristown. Thurman, 58, who lives in town, was at the outdoor bar of the restaurant and allegedly tried buying Steinberg a drink. When the woman declined, she says the coach became combative and hit her.
