Lifelong Morris Woman, Grandmother Dies at 94
Helen Dwyer Blackwell worked at First National Iron Bank for 25 years.
Helen Dwyer Blackwell has been a Morris staple for more than 90 years.
The Morristown-born mother of three died recently at the age of 94, according to her obituary.
Dwyer Blackwell was born Jan. 9, 1920 in Morristown and was one of eight children. She graduated the Bayley School in 1938 and went on to become a telephone operator after high school.

She met Edward Dwyer, a Merchant Marine Officer in 1945. The two had three sons between 1946 and 1951. Sadly, the veteran died of a war-contracted disease in 1956.
From there, the widow took a job as a bank teller in the First National Iron Bank in Morristown where she worked for more than 25 years. During that time, she worked her way up to vice president of the bank and manager of the South Street-Madison Avenue branch. She met her second husband at the bank, Albert Blackwell. The two wed in 1971.

Upon retirement, Dwyer Blackwell became involved in the Morris Township Senior Citizens organization. Sadly, Dwyer Blackwell was widowed again in 1980.
Dwyer Blackwell is survived by three sons and three grandchildren.Ā
