Morristown Area Girl Scouts SHARE Their Love Through Crafts

Seventeen troops created crafts to benefit six local organizations in annual SHARE community service project

Recently, seventeen troops from Morristown Area Girl Scouts got to work by creating crafts to benefit six local organizations in the service unit’s annual SHARE community service event. The endeavor was organized by Kathryn Tucker, an Ambassador Level Girl Scout.Girl Scouts ranging in age from six to eighteen participated in SHARE this year by selecting activities from ten different projects. In a hybrid environment, the girls crafted hundreds of items by working on their own or with their troops, and then enjoyed a virtual celebration together.

The troops produced hundreds of items that included cat toys for Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover, tissue paper flowers, holiday ornaments, breakfast bags and greeting cards for nourish.NJ, a social services organization in Morristown, and treat bags, ornaments and custom door signs for hospice residents at Grace Healthcare Services in Edison.

Other local beneficiaries of the project included Homeless Solutions, Inc., Operation Gratitude, and the Market Street Mission. The Girl Scouts distributed fleece tie scarves, letters to military personnel, tissue paper flowers, popsicle stick soap dishes, and decorated shells among these organizations in order to make a positive impact in our community.
