The non-profit organization Grow it Green Morristown would like to express its sincere gratitude to the fifth grade Girl Scout Junior Troop 97876 for their outstanding community service project. The troop, consisting of Maggie, Mary, Kaylee, Juliette, Ellie, Lyla, Ha-Rin, Ava, Giulianna, Audrey, and Emily from Alexander Hamilton, Sussex Middle School, and The Peck School, has earned the prestigious Bronze Award by installing a Little Free Library at the Early Street Community Garden.

The Bronze Award is the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can achieve, recognizing their efforts in creating a lasting impact within their local community. Troop 97876's project promotes literacy and fosters a love of reading by providing a delightful book-sharing spot for neighborhood residents.

"We are incredibly grateful for the hard work and dedication of these young Girl Scouts," said Lisa Alexander, Executive Director of Grow it Green Morristown, joined by Board Co-Chair, Katie Crawford for the unveiling. "Their Little Free Library initiative aligns perfectly with our mission of local education and access while cultivating a greener, more sustainable community. It is truly heartwarming to witness their commitment to spreading the joy of reading."

The Little Free Library, a charming outdoor structure designed to facilitate the sharing of books, was installed this week in the newly expanded parklet at Early Street Community Garden. The location was ideal for the library welcoming students, seniors and residents who frequently enjoy this green space! Visitors are encouraged to stop by, take a book or leave one behind, ensuring the continuous cycle of book exchange. The library joins the produce donation bin which has for 15 years welcomed local residents to enjoy fresh food grown by gardeners who share from their plots.
In addition to the troop's efforts, Grow it Green Morristown would like to thank Hailey from Nature of Reading in Madison for her generous donation of books to stock the newly installed Little Free Library.

The success of this project exemplifies the positive impact that can be achieved through collaboration to build stronger, more connected neighborhoods in amazing ways.
