Morristown Girl Scout Troop Pulls Together for Earth Day Challenge
Morristown Girl Scout Junior Troop 97203 Collected Plastic Pull Tabs for Guinness World Record Challenge

Fifth-graders from Morristown Area Girl Scout Junior Troop 97203 pulled it together in a big way for Earth Day this year. The troop collected approximately 50 plastic pull tabs from containers and connected them as a contribution to a Guinness World Record challenge to create the world's longest plastic pull tab chain. The chain is intended as an environmental statement to highlight how even the smallest pieces of plastic add up over time.
Artist Sharon Suess created the world's longest plastic pull tab chain challenge. She thanked the troop for its contribution, noting that her goal is to collect plastic pull tabs from every state in the country. So far, the chain has pull tabs from New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, California, and Louisiana. The collection will run for another year until Earth Day on April 22, 2023. In her acknowledgment message, Suess congratulated the Girl Scouts for becoming official members of the Chain Gang.
