After being defeated on Tuesday against Montville on the road, Morristown girls lacrosse came strong into the state tournament on Thursday.
Ranked No. 5, the Colonials beat No. 12 Vernon, 14-9.
Coach Evan Mager said on Tuesday that the team needed to focus in this tournament because it only takes one bad day to get sent home.

“We need to figure it out going into state because in playoffs, any team can play,” said Mager. “Everybody needs to realize that it’s one (bad) game and you go home. Luckily we have a day tomorrow to prepare. We’re ranked fifth in the conference so we have a home game, which is Thursday at 4:30 p.m.”
