Morristown Man Accused of Attempted Murder in Lincoln Street Shooting

A Morristown man has been charged with attempted murder after a six-week investigation stemming from a shooting on Lincoln Street on Jan. 31.

Morris County Prosecutors have charged Brandon Johnson, 23, with first degree attempted murder, two counts of first degree robbery; one count of second degree unlawful possession of a weapon; two counts of second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; one count of second degree certain persons not to possess weapons; and one count of fourth degree conspiracy to possess controlled dangerous substance.

Police responded to an incident on Lincoln Street after a call was made at 5:20 p.m. that day for a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. During the call, it was reported that there was “severe bleeding to the leg.” It was later learned there had been a shooting.

First Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Zelante said Monday the shooting occurred during a robbery. 

At the time of the incident, Knapp said there was no threat to the community and that the shooting was not at random. Zelante said no information about the victim would be released.

Johnson was formally charged on March 13, Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said. He is being held on $750,000 bail full cash in the Morris County Correctional Facility.
