Morristown Memorial Heart Surgeon Named ABC Medical Contributor
Doctor works in hospital's Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute.

Chris Magovern, a cardiothoracic surgeon at Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute, has been named “Medical Contributor” for ABC News. Magovern has appeared on air and on the Internet discussing medical topics that range from the safety of airport screening and presidential medical care to Bill Clinton’s angioplasty and Barbara Walters' valve surgery.
Since last year, Magovern has taped more than 20 segments for ABC. The interviews have appeared on Good Morning America Health, a cable show which airs nationally on ABC’s 24-hour news channel, and ABC News Now, which is available locally on Verizon Fios. These segments have been taped in ABC’s Times Square studio in New York City, and from the cardiac operating rooms at Morristown Memorial. Links to most recent segments are available at ABCNews.com/Health.
“Contributing to ABC’s medical news team gives me the opportunity to help viewers receive the most accurate medical information in a way that’s easy to understand,” Magovern said. “I have found that my busy clinical practice and numerous contacts in the medical community enable me to comfortably comment on a wide range of medical topics.”
