Morristown Native, Business Owner, WWII Vet Dies at 95

'Arky' Bianco owned Speedwell Ironworks for 16 years.

His name was Archangelo Joseph Bianco, Sr., but everyone knew him as Arky.

The born and raised Morristown man died recently at the age of 95, according to his obituary.

Bianco was a World War II volunteer in the Army Combat Engineers 469th Division, seeing action in Normandy, Omaha Beach, and Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded and received five battle stars, and was the last living member of the DAV George Washington Post #42 in Morristown, where he served as commander.

Once he was out of the service, Bianco became a deputy sheriff under Arnold Ladd in Morris County.

Bianco was a talented mandolin player, performing in New York and New Jersey orchestras as well as throughout Europe.

Bianco owned and operated Speedwell Ironworks from 1947 to 1963 in Morristown, then owned and operated Best Car Wash in Rockaway Township from 1977 to his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Celeste, of 65 years; four children; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
