The Newark Project® Provides Hope for Students and their Families
Radical new program seeks to remove disparities in minority households and create sustainable futures

The Newark Project® is a grant that provides services to low-income and minority students along with their families within Newark, NJ. These services include housing subsidy, academic assistance, employment, and social services at no cost. Freshman high school students along with their families are encouraged to apply for consideration for the upcoming January grant award.
Selected college-bound students and their families are assigned a case manager, full housing subsidy, virtual tutoring, PSAT and SAT exam preparation, employment search assistance, and other state and local services that are available until the student graduates high school, after which they receive a college scholarship. TNP’s goal is to remove the disparities facing minority students and their households giving them an opportunity to thrive, build generational wealth and create sustainable futures.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for this program:
- Household must be both low-income and minority
- Household at or below the Federal Poverty guideline
- Household reside in Newark, NJ
- Student must be entering 9th grade during the 2021-2022 school year
- Must attend a Newark, NJ high school
- Completed application, in its entirety, must be received by the application deadline November 30, 2021
Newark, NJ, a minority-centric city, has a high incidence of low-income families and unemployment, with an eviction rate higher than the national average. Limited access to resources in education, healthcare and employment, are only a few of the reasons for the large disparities the community faces. The Newark Project® seeks to remove these disparities and create sustainable futures.
