NJ Man Who Robbed NY Jets Player At Gunpoint Arrested, Cops Say
The pro football player was robbed by four masked gunmen in North Jersey, police said.
MORRISTOWN, NJ ā One of the people believed to have robbed a New York Jets football player at gunpoint has been arrested, according to prosecutors.
Noah Shaffer, 26, of Paterson, has been charged for his role in an armed robbery in Morristown almost exactly a year ago, authorities said.
On Feb. 15, 2025, around 8 a.m., police were called to a Morristown residence on reports of an armed robbery.

An unidentified victim, who was playing football for the New York Jets at the time, said he and his friends were returning from New York City when they pulled into their driveway.
At that point, a Volkswagen Taos blocked the driveway, and four masked gunmen exited the car, police said.

The suspects, pointing their guns at the victim, stole his watch and wallet, as well as cash from his driver, according to prosecutors. The suspects then hopped back into the Volkswagen and drove off.
Authorities said that the victim had been targeted and that the Volkswagen had followed the car for more than 30 miles to commit the robbery. No injuries were reported in the robbery.

A "thorough, extensive, and cooperative investigation" revealed electronic evidence showing that Shaffer had participated in the robbery, authorities said.
After nearly a year of investigation, Shaffer was charged on Jan. 15 with two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. He was already being detained at the Bergen County Correctional Facility for unrelated charges at that time.
On Monday, Shaffer was ordered to remain detained at the Bergen County Correctional Facility for the Morris County charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 2.

The robbery came just months after the National Football League warned players about an organized criminal ring that targeted homes of professional athletes, including the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, and quarterback Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals. Seven Chilean nationals were charged in those crimes.
