Small Plane Crash Lands at Morristown Airport, Cops Say

Pilot, passenger walk away after aircraft lands on its nose, police report.

A small airplane carrying two men from northern New Jersey made an emergency crash landing at Morristown Municipal Airport Friday afternoon, Lt. Stuart Greer said.

Just before noon, the airport told the Morris County Communications Center of an aircraft emergency, Greer said. The pilot of a Piper Seminole aircraft said that shortly after takeoff he had experienced an issue with the retraction of the front wheel on the plane, Greer said.

The pilot said he was not sure if the wheel was able to lock in place and would need to make an emergency landing at the airport, Greer said.

Once first responders were in place, the plane landed and, as expected, the front wheel did not lock into place, Greer said.
