Thousands Brave The Wind, Cold In Morristown’s 3rd ‘No Kings’ Rally

Morristown joined dozens of New Jersey communities by holding its third peaceful 'No Kings' demonstration.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Residents from across the county came out by the thousands to practice their First Amendment and protest for its third ‘No Kings’ Rally.

Thousands of communities across the country organized rallies this Saturday, condemning the policies of President Donald Trump and his administration. No Kings is a coalition of numerous progressive and pro-democracy organizations led and coordinated by the national organizing group Indivisible.

Several officials and community leaders spoke at Morristown's demonstration, including Mayor Tim Dougherty.

“Today we gather not as subjects, not as followers, but as people bound together by something deeper: By a shared belief in dignity, in justice, and in the sacred worth of every human voice,” Dougherty said. “We were not created to bow to power; we were created to stand in it together. This No Kings rally is not just a political statement; it is a moral one.”

Dougherty spoke on the upcoming elections, including the midterms and NJ-11's congressional race, calling voting not only a civic duty, but an "act of faith in one another." He quoted the late John Lewis, "The vote is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have in a democratic society."

"Let this gathering be more than a moment, let it be a movement of spirit and purpose. Let it remind us that power does not belong to the few; it flows through all of us when we choose to stand, to speak, to ask," he continued. "No kings... No exceptions... Only the shared voice of the people guided by conscious, strengthened by unity, and carried forward by each of us."

Between 5,000 and 6,000 protestors were estimated to attend Saturday's peaceful demonstration. Less than the last rally in October, which garnered around 8,000, but more than the first rally in June.

Protestors could be seen carrying signs that read "We the people did not vote for this," "Stop Fascism," and "Healthcare Not Warfare," to name a few. Other signs depicted upside-down American flags and a crowned Trump with an "X" across his face.

Though, at least one protester was spotted holding an "I Support ICE" flag among the demonstrators, according to NJ.com.

Morristown has been in the crosshairs of Trump policies, specifically immigration policies, as several Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids have swept the town. One January raid led to the detention of a Morristown high school student, who was eventually released after a judge deemed his arrest unlawful.

Morristown’s neighboring municipalities have also felt the repercussions of Trump policies, specifically Roxbury, where an ICE detention facility is being built. The move has been met with bipartisan criticism throughout the Garden State. Some signs during Saturday's protest were directly opposing the controversial facility.

Criticism

Many Republicans have outwardly criticized the demonstrations in the past, including the president himself, who posted an AI-generated video of him, wearing a crown, dropping what appears to be feces on the heads of protestors from a fighter jet with “King Trump” written on it.

House Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News before the October protests that although he is “a very patient guy,” he has “had it with these people.”

He called the protest a “Hate America rally” staged by “all the pro-Hamas wing and the ANTIFA people.”
