'Ticket Taker Guy' Fired From Morristown AMC Theater

After more than 20 years, Eric "Fluffy" Glover has been fired from his job.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morristown's beloved "ticket taker guy" has been fired from his ticket-taking job at AMC Headquarter Theaters.

Eric Glover, known as "Fluffy" or the "ticket taker guy," has been a familiar face at the local movie theater for more than 20 years. (The location was owned by Clearview Cinemas until 2013).

"Eric no longer works at AMC Headquarters 10," Ryan Noonan, an AMC spokesperson confirmed to Patch.

What made Glover so well known was the unique spin he put on ticket taking. Instead of doing what you'd expect, Glover acted like a robotic ticket dispenser, much to the delight of locals.

Not so much to the delight of new management, however. Glover told Morristown Green that a new manager told him to stop the routine during busy periods and to never physically touch customers, not even to pose with people asking for photographs.

Glover told Morristown Green that he was fired after asking a group of teenagers to calm down. Glover said it was "like a schoolteacher," but management disagreed.

"While significant effort was made by AMC to ensure a positive work environment, Eric repeatedly exhibited behaviors inconsistent with AMC’s policies and standards," Noonan said. "We recognize Eric’s popularity within the Morristown community, and while this decision may not be popular, it is warranted and appropriate."

Glover is so well liked in the town that a local club threw him a 50th birthday celebration.

When Glover found himself homeless earlier this year after his hours were cut and a family illness drained his resources, Morristown rallied around him. More than $65,000 was raised to help Glover get back on his feet, and a petition was started asking AMC increase his hours.
