Two Critically Injured When Tree Falls On Car: Morristown Police

Two people were in their car when a tree fell on it, seriously injuring them.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Two people were injured when a tree fell on their car with them inside of it during Monday night's thunderstorms, Morristown Lt. Stuart Greer said in a press release.

The two were inside their car on Ford Ave near Franklin Street when the tree fell over onto their four door sedan, trapping them inside around 8 p.m. Firefighters freed the pair, and both were taken to the emergency room at Morristown Medical Center with traumatic injuries, Greer said.

Both remain in critical condition as of Tuesday morning.

The investigation remains ongoing, and more information will be released, Greer said. The names of the injured will be released once the family is notified.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the two victims and their families," Morristown Mayor Timothy Dougherty said in a statement.
