WAMMC Celebrates 125th Anniversary
The Women's Association for Morristown Medical Center Celebrates 125th Anniversary
Founded in March 1893, the Women's Association for Morristown Medical Center (WAMMC), is one of the oldest and most successful fundraising organizations in the country—celebrating 125 years this month.
To date, WAMMC has raised nearly $30 million to support Morristown Medical Center.

“I don’t think there is any program or patient at Morristown Medical Center that hasn’t benefitted in some way from the wonderful philanthropic work of the Women’s Association,” said Trish O’Keefe, PhD, RN, President, Morristown Medical Center and Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center member. “From assisting us with funding priorities like our new Nursing Center for Innovation and Research, helping purchase new equipment, developing new facilities, to decorating for the holidays, the Women’s Association is an integral part of the fabric of the medical center. On behalf of Morristown Medical Center, our most sincere congratulations to our Women’s Association for your incredible 125 years of service.”

WAMMC was established in March of 1893, four months after Myra Brookfield founded the hospital. A partnership between the hospital and the Women’s Association was forged to ensure ongoing community support. Over the years, WAMMC has grown from providing services and fundraising to running profitable businesses and awarding scholarships for hospital employees to further their professional educations.
The Mansion in May Designer Show House and Gardens Tour remains WAMMC’s signature event, while its business ventures include The Bargain Box Thrift Boutique and hospital gift shops and cafes. Recently, WAMMC launched an in-house television station, WAMMC TV, known as Calling All Kids Storytime Network, which produces and broadcasts shows for young patients and their families to enjoy while at the hospital.
WAMMC has evolved from a simple fundraising organization and today is led by a president, an executive committee, 45 board members and 20 committees, all volunteers who work with a vast volunteer network of more than 1,500 people.
