Woman Charged With Burglary For Taking Her Own Dog From Morris County Shelter

It's a bizarre story of how one Morris County woman was charged with stealing her own dog.

DENVILLE, NJ — When Jessica Dreyer's Shiba Inu ran away, she was relived to learn the dog had been found and was safe at a local shelter.

Then, the story gets strange.

Dreyer was arrested and charged with burglary after she entered the shelter after hours and took her dog home without letting shelter workers know, the Daily Record reported.

Dreyer told the paper that police said she'd have to wait until the next morning to pick the dog up from the shelter because it was closed for the evening. She stopped by the shelter, and when she noticed it was unlocked and the dog was crying, entered and took the dog home.

The dog is a therapy dog for Dryer's daughter, and Dryer told the paper it was crucial she take it come home right away.
