Deer Rescue Attempt Ends With NJ Woman Airlifted To Hospital

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A woman suffered serious injuries this week after she was hit by a car in Morris County, officials said.

On Tuesday, around 11:45 p.m., police were called to Route 206 near Patricia Drive in Mount Olive on reports of someone being hit by a car.

Authorities found a 24-year-old Lake Hopatcong woman lying in the roadway. She was airlifted to a nearby hospital to be treated for significant injuries, officials said.

An investigation revealed that the 24-year-old was trying to help an injured deer that had been hit by a car when she herself was hit by a white Mazda headed south on 206, police said.

The Mazda driver, a 29-year-old Flanders woman, who was uninjured, remained on the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, police said.

The condition of the 24-year-old victim was not immediately available on Wednesday morning.
