Residents were urged to watch for damaging winds, heavy rain, and possible flooding, while Newark Airport experienced significant delays and thousands across New Jersey temporarily lost power. 
• Chatham Girls Volleyball Shows Off New Uniforms in Season Opener, But Cougars Wilt in Muggy Conditions at Mountain Lakes (tapinto.net) — Mountain Lakes volleyball fans saw their team open the season with a straight-sets home win over Chatham, 25-18 and 25-22, in a hot, muggy gym. Chatham's coach praised his squad's talent but said they didn't generate enough points through aces, kills, and blocks to match the Lakers' performance.
