1 Dead, 1 Hurt After Shooting In Newark On Memorial Day Weekend
A shooting in Newark on Memorial Day weekend left one victim dead and another wounded, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — A shooting in Newark on Memorial Day weekend left one victim dead and another wounded, authorities said.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Newark police were notified about a shooting in the area of Plymouth Street and South Munn Avenue at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Officers found Siddiq Amin Hooper, 44, of Newark, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:55 p.m.
A second male victim is currently in stable condition at a nearby hospital, authorities added.

No arrests have been made. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the shooting. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
