3 Dogs Kill Man In NJ After He Tries To Break Up Fight, Police Say

He saw the dogs fighting and tried to intervene – but the animals turned on him and attacked, authorities say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A man died after he was attacked by three dogs near a housing complex in Newark last weekend, authorities say.

Police responded to Georgia King Village near Cabinet Street at 8:26 p.m. on Saturday after getting a call about a dog attack.

According to police, the dogs were owned by someone the victim knows. He saw the dogs fighting and tried to intervene and break up the fight – but the animals turned on him and attacked.

The victim escaped from the dogs, but lost consciousness after the attack. He was pronounced deceased at 9:06 p.m.

Animal control officers were notified and responded to the scene, authorities said.
