HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Rob Menendez Jr. beat back a challenge from Mussab Ali on Tuesday to clinch the Democratic nomination for 8th District Congress, the Associated Press reported.
Menendez will run again in November for a third two-year term representing Hoboken, Elizabeth, part of Newark, part of Jersey City, and several other Hudson County towns.
Menendez faced a primary challenge from former Jersey City school board president Ali.
Both candidates live in Jersey City, and both have criticized the current presidential administration.
The Associated Press said that Menendez beat Ali nearly 3:1. However, ballots could be mailed in as late as 8 p.m. Tuesday, so the final numbers will not be available for at least a week.
