Hip-hop pioneer MC Lyte is taking her latest career milestone on the road with a new national tour beginning in Brooklyn.

The "MC Lyte Road to the Hall of Fame Tour" will kick off Oct. 11 in Brooklyn as Lyte celebrates her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and more than four decades in hip-hop.

Produced by My Block, Sunni Gyrl Inc. and UAA, the tour will combine live performances with storytelling and conversation about Lyte's career and the cultural moments that have shaped her journey.

The tour will travel across multiple markets this fall, with stops in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York's Hudson Valley, Boston, St. Louis, Chicago, Minneapolis, Atlanta and Nashville.

Organizers describe the tour as a "living archive" that will allow audiences to revisit Lyte's catalog while hearing some of the stories and experiences behind the music.

Lyte emerged as one of hip-hop's pioneering female rappers during the 1980s and has spent much of her career breaking barriers for women in the genre.

According to her representatives, Lyte became the first female rapper to earn a gold single and the first solo female rapper to receive a Grammy nomination. She was also the first rap artist to perform at Carnegie Hall and, in 2006, became the first solo female rapper honored by VH1's Hip Hop Honors.

Her career has since expanded beyond music into acting, television, directing, producing and entrepreneurship.

Lyte has appeared in projects including Girls Trip, Queen of the South, S.W.A.T. and Power. Behind the camera, she created and executive produced the ALLBLK series Partners in Rhyme and served as an executive producer of Netflix's Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop.

She is also CEO of Sunni Gyrl, Inc., an entertainment management and production company, and serves on the Kennedy Center's Hip Hop Culture Council.

Following the Brooklyn kickoff, Lyte will perform in Pittsburgh on Oct. 12 and Philadelphia on Oct. 13 before continuing through several cities.

The tour includes two shows in St. Louis on Oct. 17 and two in Chicago on Oct. 20. It resumes in November with two Atlanta dates before concluding its currently announced schedule in Nashville on Nov. 11.

The tour follows the release of Lyte's latest album, 1 of 1, and arrives as the rapper celebrates another major recognition in a career spanning more than 40 years.
