Celebrating ‘Kings Who Read’: Newark Councilman Visits School
Rapper-turned-councilman Dupré Kelly paid a visit to Roseville Community Charter School for its annual "Kings Who Read" literacy event.
NEWARK, NJ — Rapper-turned-councilman Dupré Kelly recently paid a visit to Roseville Community Charter School for its fourth annual “Kings Who Read” literacy event.
Held in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy, Roseville Community Charter School puts on the annual event to reinforce the importance of reading, inviting positive role models from the community who demonstrate the school's core values of “Collaboration, Honesty, Excellence, Effort and Respect” (CHEER).
Before he was elected to office, Kelly's nonprofit organization, 211 Community Impact, donated books, textbooks and computers to schools and students. He continues this community service as a councilman, and serves on the board of Afterschool All Stars.
