Coming Soon! Kuiken Brothers Opening in Newark's East Ward

Local job opportunities for Newark residents at new Residential & Commercial Building Materials Distribution Center on Doremus Avenue.

Kuiken Brothers, one of the state’s leading suppliers of quality residential and commercial building materials, is working on final site preparation at the company’s new distribution center at 500 Doremus Avenue in Newark’s East Ward. Kuiken Brothers is hoping to fill staff positions with local residents.

For many years, Kuiken Brothers has supplied a wide range of residential and commercial projects in Essex, Hudson, and Union Counties from its network in northern New Jersey. The Newark facility, Kuiken Brothers’ ninth, will provide even greater access, allow for faster delivery into these markets, and will open up opportunities for new relationships to be established with builders and remodelers in the region, including Harrison, Kearny, Bayonne, Elizabeth, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and coastal New Jersey markets.

Founded in 1912 and still family owned, operated and headquartered in New Jersey, Kuiken Brothers recognized a need based on the tremendous growth and redevelopment taking place throughout the City of Newark, as well as in neighboring communities. With convenient connectivity via road and rail, and waterfront access on Port Newark’s shipping channel, the facility will help Kuiken Brothers better serve its expanding marketplace.

The facility, located approximately one mile off Exit 15E of the New Jersey Turnpike, offers easy access to Route 78, Route 280, Routes 1 & 9, and the Garden State Parkway, with delivery capabilities including flatbeds, tractor trailers, moffett and 4, 6 and 8-story boom trucks.

The 10-acre site features covered storage, including a drive-through warehouse with eight loading docks, an automated racking system, and exterior covered racking (storage sheds and cantilever systems). All of these structures were designed and built to provide covered storage for product categories to include lumber, windows, doors, moulding, drywall, steel studs, insulation, acoustical ceilings, hardware, plywood, panels, engineered lumber and decking. Nearly a quarter mile of rail siding to the waterfront accommodates the direct shipment of lumber, plywood, and drywall from premier lumber mills and manufacturing facilities in North America.
