David Cedeño and His Orchestra to Perform at 4th Annual Hot Rods and Classic Car Show

Great music, great cars, great food and family-friendly fun on Mt. Prospect Avenue in the North Ward's historic Forest Hill neighborhood.

Local favorites David Cedeño & His Orchestra will perform salsa classics and other musical highlights as the headliners at the 4th Annual Hot Rods & Classic Car Show on Mt. Prospect Avenue in Newark’s historic Forest Hill neighborhood. The event, presented by the Mt. Prospect Partnership, will take place on Sunday, September 11th from 11:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. (rain date September 18th). Admission is free for the general public.

With more than a dozen albums to his credit, trumpeter extraordinaire Cedeño performs internationally, including an acclaimed tour of Japan, in addition to appearances at local events. More than 100 vehicles are expected to compete for $1100 in cash prizes (entry fee of $15 pre-show/$20 day of show). Other highlights will include appearances by super hero characters like Superman, Batman and Captain America, a DJ, a variety of food and ice cream vendors plus children’s entertainment like face painters, stilt walkers, and balloon artists at this family-friendly event. The Partnership has also partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the event to help raise awareness and financial support for the fight against breast cancer.

Mt. Prospect Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event between Delavan Avenue and Heller Parkway. Absolutely no bicycles or skateboards will be allowed in the display area. Staging of the vehicles will start on the day of the event between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Those that register early to secure specific locations must be in their assigned spots by 9:30 a.m. or they may lose those specific locations.
