NEWARK, NJ — A system-wide outage affecting all Delta Airlines flights on Monday morning affected travel plans as far away as Newark Liberty International Airport, authorities say.

In a statement, the airline said that flights scheduled for Monday were delayed while flights that were currently en route were operating normally. The issues came when a power outage impacted Delta computer systems and operations, the airline stated.

The resulting issues delayed plans for commuters at airports across the nation, including in Newark, authorities said.

“Delta is experiencing flight delays due to computer problems,” officials at the Port Authority of NY/NJ announced early Monday. Officials recommended that travelers at Newark Airport reconfirm their flights and leave additional time to check-in.

The FAA Airport Status website stated Monday morning that due to an unspecified reason, departure traffic destined to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, GA, (ATL) will not be allowed to depart until at or after 10 a.m. (EDT).
