NEWARK, NJ — Essex County Commissioner A’Dorian Murray-Thomas recently hosted the first annual Essex County “Divine Nine Day” in Newark.

The event – held last week at the Essex County Hall of Records – celebrated the leadership and contributions of members from the nine historically African American fraternities and sororities that make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council: collectively known as the “Divine Nine.”

These contributions include more than $1 million in scholarships and thousands of hours of community service annually.
