ECC Offering Enrichment Classes for Grade and High School Students
Martial arts, SAT prep and word processing among offerings beginning Jan. 25

Essex County College, 303 University Ave., is again offering enrichment classes for students aged 5 to 18 beginning Jan. 25. Call 973-877-3079 for information on registering and tuition.
Youth programs include “Algebra,” for students in sixth through ninth grade; “Computer Discovery,” for children six to eight years old; “Computer Graphics,” for students ages nine to 15; “Dance Combo,” for children ages five to 11; “Discovering Young Artists,” for youth ages five to 13; and “Fun with Phonics,” for children in kindergarten through second grade.
Also, “Geometry,” for students in grades nine and ten; “Improving Penmanship,” for students ages nine to 12; “Improving Reading Comprehension,” for children in grades one through eight; “Keyboarding and Word Processing,” for children ages nine to 15; “Martial Arts,” for children ages six through 15; “Musical Performers Studio,” for those ages eight to 15; “Problem Solving Math,” for students in grades one through eight; “Science for Youth,” for children ages eight to 11, and “Writing with a Purpose,” for students in grades five to eight.

The college will also offer preparation classes for specific state tests, also on Saturdays during the youth program sessions.
The NJ ASK (Assessment of Skills and Knowledge) Test Prep course provides students in grades three through eight with the instruction and skills practice needed to succeed on the language arts and math sections of the test. Only students who attend public school will take these tests.

The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) will prepare 10th and 11th graders for the content, strategy, and time management of the test covering math, critical reading, and writing.
SAT English and Math preparation classes for students in 11th and 12th grades will also be held.
In-person registration will be held Jan. 11, 18 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 3291 (Yellow Area in the Dr. A. Zachary Yamba Building) at the main Newark campus.
