Essex County Cops Arrest 5 In Newark; Drugs, Guns Seized: Sheriff

Police seized four guns, heroin, crack-cocaine and ecstasy over the course of multiple investigations in Newark.

NEWARK, NJ — Essex County sheriff’s officers seized weapons and drugs – and made five arrests – over the course of multiple investigations in Newark this month, authorities announced Friday.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Office said the investigations were conducted in the area of Hill Street and Washington Street, and South 10th Street and Clinton Avenue.

In total, five people were arrested and four weapons were seized, including a 9mm Luger handgun loaded with 10 “ball rounds” of ammunition, a .44 Magnum Desert Eagle handgun, a Taurus Millenium G2 9mm handgun, and a .177 caliber Remington Airmaster 77 pellet gun.

Police also seized about 39 grams of heroin, 828 grams of crack-cocaine and more than 60 ecstasy pills, authorities said.
