Early Autopsy Results For Essex County Girl's 'Sudden' Death
Essex County authorities released early autopsy results for an 8-year-old girl who died suddenly and was found unresponsive in her bedroom.

NEWARK, NJ — Essex County authorities have released the identity of an 8-year-old girl who died “suddenly” and was reportedly found unresponsive in her bedroom last weekend. The deceased was identified as Imani McCray of Newark, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office stated Tuesday.
Prosecutors said that around 1:42 p.m. on Sunday, Newark police responded to an apartment on the 1000-block of South Orange Avenue. An adult at the scene told officers that they found McCray unresponsive in her bedroom.
Authorities said that a CPR attempt was made on McCray before emergency responders transported her to University Hospital in Newark. She was pronounced dead at the hospital around 3 p.m.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office released the following statement about their ongoing investigation on Tuesday:
“The Regional Medical Examiner’s office has not reached a final determination on the cause and manner of death. However, the preliminary autopsy results indicate that she did not have visible injuries.”
