Ayr Wellness and Blaze Responsibly will partner with The Newark Museum of Art to host a free community expungement event on Martin Luther King Day 2024 (January 15) at the Newark Art Museum (49 Washington Street) from noon to 3 p.m.

In 2021, New Jersey passed the Marijuana Decriminalization Law, requiring the expungement of thousands of marijuana cases. Still, there remains a significant challenge for many individuals with past convictions to navigate the judicial system sans legal representation and obtain rightful expungements.

The clinic, in providing easier access to vital resources and aid, is part of Ayr’s concerted effort to combat the effects of the failed War on Drugs through its ongoing Changing Legacies initiative.

Participants can secure free expungements for past cannabis convictions and can access additional services such as ID support, veterans’ resources, housing assistance, and job placement opportunities. The event is part of the Broader Newark Art Museum’s Community Day, and attendees are welcome to explore additional hands-on activities, goods, and information.
