Fire In Newark Leaves 14 People Without A Home: Authorities
Newark firefighters rescued a man from a window of the building. He wasn't injured, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — A fire at a three-story building in Newark left 14 people without a home on Tuesday. Nobody was injured in the blaze, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to 634 Fifteenth Avenue at 4:21 p.m. after getting a call about a blaze at the building, which has a convenience store on the first floor and living space above.
Firefighters called a second alarm at 4:34 p.m. due to “heavy fire,” according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.

At one point, firefighters from Ladder 12 and Engine 12 rescued a man from a window of the building. He wasn’t injured, authorities said.
The fire was placed under control at 6:08 p.m. The Newark Department of Public Safety’s arson unit is investigating the cause and origin of the blaze, officials said.

Authorities said that 12 adults and two children were relocated due to the damage.
