Free Immunizations for Newark Children Begin Today
School Bus Express program offering free immunizations for back to school

The will roll through Newark beginning today, Monday, until Friday, Sept. 14 to deliver free immunizations to school children.
The clinic will offer extended evening hours to ensure before starting school Sept. 6.
The hours are as follows: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Extended hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, Thursday, Sept. 6 and Thursday, Sept. 13. The clinic will be closed Monday Sept. 3 for Labor Day.

The services will be offered at the Department of Child and Family Well-Being at 110 William St. in the Central Ward.
Immunizations are free for Newark residents. Parents/guardians bringing their children for immunizations for the first time are required to have a copy of the child's immunization records, parent/guardian identification and proof of residency, like a current utility, telephone or cable bill dated within the last 30 days of visit.

Parents can also enroll their children in the New Jersey Immunization Information System (NJIIS) during the three-week clinic.
"The School Bus Express program is our annual effort to ensure that Newark’s children start the school year healthy and protected from preventable diseases," said Director of Child and Family Well-Being L'Tanya L. Williamson in a statement. "Residents should take advantage of this free program. I commend our entire Child and Family Well-Being team on providing this important program to the community."
