Free Pop-Up Health Clinic Returns To Newark

The Healthcare Division of the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), an NJIT corporation, will be hosting a free pop-up health clinic to provide basic healthcare screenings and education at Barringer High School, 90 Parker Street, Newark, NJ (next to Branch Brook Park, near the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart) on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All are welcome to attend. Participants will receive free screenings for diabetes, lead and HIV, as well as blood pressure, weight and height measurements. In addition to testing, attendees can get information on social services, insurance, dental health and cell phone coverage.

The clinic is sponsored by the Newark department of Health and Community Wellness, Aetna Better Health of New Jersey, Assurance Wireless as well as Newark’s University Hospital – which recently announced its own series of pop-up health clinics.

NJII hosted earlier pop-up health clinics at Barringer in April and October as a way of reaching out to underserved communities. Readers can learn more here.
