Eligible Newark residents can save some cash by having their taxes done for free – here's how.
NEWARK, NJ — Eligible Newark residents could save some serious cash by having their taxes done for free through a local program, organizers say.
The Newark Free Tax Prep initiative offers free tax preparation help to people with $66,000 or less taxable income on their return. Volunteers also help residents to see if they qualify for tax breaks such as the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and education credits.
Residents can take the first step themselves and file online. Need some in-person assistance? The United Way of Greater Newark will be running several Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites in the Brick City for 2025.
