Newark Event: Free Workshop for Small Business Owners
The free workshop in Newark will offer crucial information for small business owners and entrepreneurs.

NEWARK, NJ — The South Ward Special Improvement District (SID) is partnering with Rising Tide Capital to present a free, informational workshop for small business owners and entrepreneurs on Thursday, Nov. 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at St. John’s Community Baptist Church, 1066 Bergen Street in Newark.
The session will introduce participants to Rising Tide’s Community Business Academy, which is designed for individuals with strong business ideas and a desire to own small for-profit businesses. The 12-week course offers hands-on training in the fundamentals of starting and growing a business. All accepted students will receive a full tuition waiver.
At the event, Keith Dent, Rising Tide Capital’s senior manager for regional programs, will talk about the program and the many different entrepreneurs Rising Tide has supported, ranging from clothing designers and home improvement contractors, to caterers and hair stylists.

Phillip Gilmore, pastor of St. John’s and President of the South Ward SID, said the event will stimulate local economic development and highlight opportunities for people interested in purchasing a home, opening a business or investing in the district.
