‘Fuera ICE’: Protest Against Detention Facility Planned In Newark

A plan is underway to reopen a 1,000-bed immigrant detention center in New Jersey – the first under President Trump's second term.

NEWARK, NJ — Activists are planning to hold a protest against the reopening of a 1,000-bed immigrant detention center in New Jersey.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials recently confirmed plans to “reopen” Delaney Hall in Newark, the state’s largest city. The facility would be the first federal detention center to open under Trump’s second term, and will increase ICE’s capacity for deportations throughout the region.

No specific date was released, but officials said the reopening is “imminent.”
