Girls; Live, Love, Laugh Inc. in conjunction with Mayor Ras J. Baraka City of Newark, Newark GALS and My Sister's Keeper presents our 1st Annual Inaugural Girls Matter Walk.

The young women of Newark, NJ, are intelligent, loyal, dedicated and curious- but they are also vulnerable. Every day, innocent and unsuspecting girls and women are taken off the streets, attacked at their vehicles, threatened in their homes, and unsafe on the playgrounds in their communities. Just last month, an 8 year-old child was abducted while playing outside in her building's recreational area with several others around. It was only through the combined efforts of community activists and leaders with local law enforcement that she was found and safely returned to her family.

Girls; Live, Love, Laugh, Inc. believes that we all matter, and to that end we are preparing for our first ever "Girls Matter Walk," which will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16. As you might know, Mayor Ras Baraka proclaimed this day as Girls; Live, Love, Laugh, Inc. Day in the city of Newark. On this day we want all girls/women to know that they matter.
