Good Shepherd Academy celebrates Catholic Schools Week
Good Shepherd Academy in Nutley starts off Catholic Schools Week 2016 with a flash…mob that is!
Students from grades 2 through 8 broke out into unexpected song and dance at the opening school Mass at Holy Family Church. Marcelius Figueroa played “Ode to Joy” on the violin and Brianna Santos, soloist, filled the church with beautiful sound and joy. It was a great opening to the week long celebration of Catholic education.
Monday brought the students together for our monthly Anti-Bullying Assembly. Prayers, pledges and student presentations made for an inspiring afternoon.
Tuesday was a day to celebrate GSA PRIDE. The students participated in our traditional Blue & Gold Spirit Day. Competitive games were held and big fun was had by all.

Thursday was an extraordinary day for our students. Our 7th and 8th grade boys and girls varsity teams played basketball against a team of special needs students from the Phoenix Center in Nutley. Our students showed compassion, empathy, support, good sportsmanship and complete joy at this event. That afternoon our academics were put to the test with our K-3 Spelling Bee and 4-8 Academic Bowl.
