Hiring Ramps Up At Newark Airport Ahead Of $2.7B Project

Available jobs include cooks, baristas, sales associates, gate/security agents, maintenance techs, and ticket/ramp workers.

NEWARK, NJ — Hiring is ramping up at Newark Liberty International Airport ahead of a massive, $2.7 billion renovation project that’s been years in the making.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the Council for Airport Opportunity (CAO) will hold an in-person hiring event on Thursday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will take place at the Newark Airport Hilton Hotel, 1170 Spring Street in Elizabeth. Learn more here.

According to a news release, the job openings to be filled include positions as cooks, baristas and bartenders, sales associates, gate agents, security agents, maintenance technicians, warehouse staff and ticket and ramp agents.

While the March 24 job fair has reached the registration limit, other job fairs will be taking place in the near future, the CAO stated. The Port Authority, which manages Newark Airport, JFK Airport and LaGuardia Airport, has one of the highest minimum wages in the nation at the three facilities. By next year, the salaries of thousands of workers are scheduled to reach $19 per hour.
