Irvington Student Dies After Alleged Hit-And-Run In Newark: Report
An 18-year-old high school student has passed away a week after being fatally struck during an alleged hit-and-run incident, a report says.

Newark, NJ – An 18-year-old Essex County high school student has passed away a week after being fatally struck during an alleged hit-and-run incident, a report says.
Christina Stanford, an Irvington High School student, was taken off life support at University Hospital at around 11 p.m. on Saturday night, family members told RLS Media.
Jose G. Estevez-Bonifacio, 28, of Newark, surrendered himself to police on April 27 and was charged in connection with the alleged hit-and-run, authorities stated.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, a motor vehicle struck Stanford at the intersection of Broad and Market Streets and then left the scene of the accident.
Emergency responders transported Stanford to University Hospital following the incident.

Estevez-Bonifacio’s bail was set at $57,500. He posted bail and was released from custody, authorities stated.
