It’s 2 Days Later, And Newark Water Main Break Still Isn’t Fixed
The break at 1st Street near Dickerson Street is messing with local traffic. Drivers should expect delays, Newark police said.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark authorities said Friday that a large water main break that took place two days ago still hasn’t been repaired.
The break at 1st Street near Dickerson Street happened on Wednesday, Jan. 2. Police responded to calls about the break shortly before 3:40 a.m., eventually closing the northbound lanes of 1st Street from Dickerson Street to Sussex Avenue. Traffic was diverted onto Dickerson Street, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.
However, on Friday, Newark police officers were still on scene directing traffic, as the northbound left lane at 1st Street and Dickerson Street remains closed at the repair site.
