Justin Bieber Performance In Newark Not Happening

Looks like the Biebs is not coming to the Bears.

On Monday, the Newark Bears announced pop sensation Justin Bieber was set to perform at the Newark Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium for the team's second annual "Stadium of Screams." Bieber was scheduled to perform acoustic Oct. 28 and meet with season ticket holders afterward.

But now, it seems a performance by the "Boyfriend" crooner is a no go.

Bieber's publicist Melissa Victor told The Star Ledger Tuesday that word of the star's appearance is "pure fiction."

"No such appearance was ever confirmed," Victor told the Ledger in an e-mail. "His legal team will take legal action against any firm or person holding themselves out as Justin’s authorized agent who may have confirmed any such event. AEG is their exclusive promoter in the U.S. for all dates on the current tour."

Bears owner Danielle Dronet, though, reportedly insisted via Facebook and Twitter that the Biebs was set to perform at the charitable Halloween event. Those tweets have been taken down. The Bears also stripped their website of any Bieber-related mention Tuesday, after being contacted by the 18-year-old's lawyer.

Newark Bears blamed the snafu on "a situation regarding fraudulent representation of Justin Bieber, who has no part of any potential related fraudulent activity," the team said in a statement.

The "Stadium of Screams" will go on as planned, with the Bears saying it will "continue to work on a special performance for the event."
