Knives Seized At Newark, LaGuardia Airports

Police at LaGuardia Airport arrested two Bronx residents at a checkpoint after allegedly finding razors hidden in a shoe and a baseball cap.

Authorities at two New York City area airports recently reported seizing knives at their security checkpoints.

On Monday morning, Port Authority Police at LaGuardia Airport arrested two New York residents at a screening checkpoint after officers allegedly found concealed weapons on them prior to a flight to Miami.

According to police, Miguel Rosario Munoz, 40, of the Bronx, had a straight-edged razor hidden in the removable sole of one of his shoes.

Fifteen minutes later, police arrested Lizbeth M. Esteras, 18, of the Bronx, allegedly finding a straight razor blade tucked behind the inside band of the hat near the size label.

Port Authority Police charged the two with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
