A 23-year-old man was reportedly killed in a fireworks incident in New Jersey overnight.

The incident happened at 168 Pacific St. in Newark and involved a 23-year-old man who was holding the fireworks close to his chest, according to News12.

The M-80 blew up in his hand and caused internal injuries, according to News12.

The man, who was not identified by police, was hurt in the city's Ironbound section and was taken to University Hospital in traumatic arrest sometime before 2 a.m., according to Daily Voice.
