Man, 38, Dies In Newark Shooting; No Arrests Made: Authorities

A 38-year-old man died in a shooting in Newark. No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A 38-year-old man died in a shooting in Newark last weekend, authorities announced Tuesday.

Larry Oliver, 38, of Newark, was shot on the 100-block of Avon Avenue on Saturday, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Oliver was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:06 a.m., authorities said.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, authorities stated.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting.
