Man Carjacked In Newark; Wife, Baby Still Inside Vehicle: Cops
When the victim stopped to use an ATM, a carjacker jumped into the vehicle and drove away with his family still inside, police say.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for a carjacking suspect who allegedly stole a man’s vehicle on Monday night while his wife and child were still inside. The victims weren’t injured during the encounter, authorities say.
The victim told officers that he was driving with his family and stopped at the intersection of Bloomfield and Roseville avenues in Newark around 6:50 p.m. to use a bank’s ATM. When he exited the car, a man got into the vehicle and drove away with his wife and infant child still inside, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Minutes after the carjacking, East Orange police officers responded to a report of a carjacking at Roseville and 2nd avenues, where they found the mother and child. Both had been released from the car unharmed, police said.

Newark police found the victim’s car abandoned near the intersection of 4th and Roseville avenues, authorities said.
Newark police are searching for the alleged carjacker, whom the victim described as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 5 inches with a slim build, wearing a red-hooded sweatshirt, a black baseball cap and black jeans with zippers down the leg.
