Man Chucks Bottle Through Car Window In Newark, Hits Driver: Police

A cleaning service driver blew his horn at a group of people who were blocking his pathway. Here's what happened next, Newark police said.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for a man who allegedly threw a glass bottle through the window of a vehicle, hitting the driver in the head, authorities announced Tuesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the assault took place on May 31.

“At approximately 8:33 p.m., police responded to Jackson Street and Market Street on a call of an aggravated assault. A cleaning service driver blew his horn at a group of people who were blocking his pathway inside Riverview Park. After the group moved, an unknown male threw a glass bottle through the driver-side window of the cleaning service vehicle, striking the victim in the head and causing bleeding. The suspect fled on foot. EMS arrived to evaluate the victim at the scene.”

Detectives said the assault suspect is in his late twenties to early thirties. He was wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes, and was carrying a black Adidas duffle bag (see photos below).
